Full Day Session: 4th Grade Collaboration on Assessments
The fourth grade team will continue our work around assessment. We will parse our day to address a variety of assessment related topics. The following questions will be addressed: 1) What specific formative assessments are we using with fourth graders across the curriculum? Are there common, formative assessments being used? How are we/can we capitalize on the collection of data from such assessments? 2) What common, summative assessments are we using across all disciplines? What are our priorities when it comes to designing/adopting new assessments? 3) How should we handle math end-of-term benchmark assessments as our curriculum will be changing (even if we go with Investigations)? 4) How will MCAS 2.0 challenge our students? We will look at samples available online and pinpoint specific areas of our instruction in both Math and ELA that may need to be adjusted so that our students can meet the demands of this new test. 5) What DDM can we design/adopt to best illustrate our students' growth? We will discuss our options for a fourth grade DDM and ideally, decide on a DDM that will work for our students and team.
OBJECTIVES:
The fourth grade teachers will have five common formative assessments that they can add to their practice and a will develop a plan for data analysis and responding to the data.
The fourth grade team will gather and list the current, common, summative assessments. The team will develop a list of priorities that will guide future assessment development efforts.
The fourth grade team will decide how to handle the end-of-the-year, math benchmark assessment.
The fourth grade team will develop an action plan in response to information released from the state and MCAS 2.0 samples.
The fourth grade team will decide on tentative DDMs for the 2016-17 school year.
